Welcome to Interfaith Story Circle
(Albany, Schenectady, Troy, NY, USA)
With gratitude for the participation of many people in the Capital Region over the years, we announce the beginning of the 25th anniversary year of the Interfaith Story Circle. We cordially invite you to share in our circles in the coming months when our theme will be "The Power of Story to. . ."
We invite you to come share your own traditional or personal story related to this month's theme of healing, or to come to listen to the stories of others. Either way you will be warmly welcomed.
Since 1993, we have been a storytelling group that is made up of people of many faiths. People who minister to others within their own spiritual tradition, instill values and shape character, who counsel or simply wish to have their spirit uplifted by stories are welcome. Our goal is to be of service/to connect with people of all spiritualities and faiths; to rejoice in the richness of our diversity, to break down the barriers which sometimes divide us and to build up that which we have in common. Our original name was Interfaith Story Circle of the Tri-City Area.
February 2016 Interfaith Story Circle Meeting: Lesson Stories -
Co-Sponsored by the
Interfaith Center of University at Albany
Guest Storyteller: Stephanie Marie Fox telling” Stories of the Longhouse” from the Haudenosaunee
(Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy) tradition
Come to tell (or to listen), to share resources and storytelling techniques and to make contact with others who believe in the moral, the spiritual and healing power of story. Each month, from September to June, we are hosted by a different faith community. We meet in synagogues, mosques, Buddhist centers, Christian churches and a local interfaith sanctuary. We are always seeking new groups with whom we can share.
Interfaith Story Circle is a free "come when you can" opportunity. Please feel free to bring a friend. Hope to see you at one of our circles, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. (7:00-7:45 sharing/telling by facilitator on monthly theme; 7:45-9:00 time for open telling).
Our monthly schedule can be found here.
Both the Interfaith Story Circle and
Children at the Well are programs of the
WithOurVoice, Inc., an incorporated non-profit with 501(c) 3 status.
We are associated with
Interfaith Story, a discussion group of the
National Storytelling Network.

What Our Members Say
“I’ve been a part of many interfaith ventures over the years, but this one goes straight to the heart.”
Dr. Mussarat Chaudhry (Muslim tradition)
“Our interfaith story circle meetings never fail to offer sweet surprises. The particular spiritual setting in which we gather, each guest storyteller’s unique presentation style and the connections we make through our stories, wake us up to how much we humans are alike and yet how wonderfully unique and special we are. It’s a mysterious process, but we can always count on it happening, regardless of the size of the group.”
Marni Gillard (Christian tradition)
“The Interfaith Story Circle is one of the Capital Region's most precious gems. Every time I come to listen, the Sacred appears.”
Audrey Seidman (Jewish tradition)
“Special People and Special Place! Interfaith Story Circle gives you an opportunity to join and walk together with faith and compassion.”
Suman Joshi (Hindu tradition)
